Our most valuable asset is our people. After all, ore deposits only become an asset when you have the skills and expertise to create shared value out of them, for the benefit of the Region and its inhabitants.
Mr. Maoulainine Maoulainine, Chairman of the Board – Phosboucraa
People are at the heart of Phosboucraa’s industrial strategy. This is the reason why the company invests to develop and consolidate the skill set of every one of its employees.
Phosboucraa strives to improve the living conditions of its employees and the local community and encourages the development of dynamic and thriving local economies. Indeed, the company believes that it is these local pools of talents and skills that will ultimately constitute the backbone of the long-term growth of the company.
Today, Phosboucraa is the largest private employer in the Moroccan Southern Regions with more than 1,900* employees, 79% of whom are native to the region and 96% of Phosboucraa new hires are locals with strong community roots. Back in 1977, only 4% of locals were employed by the company. Since then, we have grown and re-invested in a wide range of up-skilling, training and development programs.
*In addition to 163 employees from the region employed by OCP at its other sites (Khouribga, Safi, Casablanca, Jorf Lasfar, Benguerir and Youssoufia).
Since OCP first invested in Phosboucraa in 1976, priority has been placed on hiring workers from the Southern Regions, local skill-building and equal opportunity employment. Spectacular progress has been achieved, especially in terms of vocational and professional training, notably with the creation of dedicated training centers such as the ITA (Institut de Technologie Appliquée) in Laayoune. As a result, today, more than 96% of new hires are locals with strong community roots.
Phosboucraa is committed to its employees' wellbeing and empowerment. The company equips its employees with means that enable them to fully assume their responsibilities and develop their personal abilities and skills to operate efficiently in a changing environment. As such, Phosboucraa offers a wide range of training and development support programs that incorporate the values of the company while strengthening soft skills and industry expertise.
Like OCP, Phosboucraa operates a number of community initiatives through the Act4Community program*, and grants to Phosboucraa Foundation. Through these initiatives, employees work on everything from local entrepreneurship programs and training, to farming, female empowerment, education and environmental projects.
As Phosboucraa succeeds, we are committed to doing everything we can to help the region and the people here.
*Act4Community is an initiative launched by OCP Group in 2017 to allow employees to volunteer for local community projects and is now the entity that supports the Group’s community engagement.
Phosboucraa is the largest private employer in the Region, providing regional economic security as an ongoing source of wealth and prosperity and making significant community investments to support social and economic development.
Phosboucraa’s success in the Moroccan Sahara is reliant on its people – our employees are a major investment focus for us and we have introduced numerous work initiatives to develop and consolidate the skill set of long-time workers and new-hires.
Phosboucraa is committed to empowering its employees. We equip them to fully take their responsibilities and develop their abilities and skills to operate efficiently in a changing environment.
It is our belief that pools of talent and skills ultimately constitute the backbone of the long-term growth of the company. To attract and retain talent, we place great emphasis on the wellness of our employees and the local community, thereby encouraging the development of dynamic and thriving local economies.
We are proud to say that Phosboucraa’s training stimulated real positive impacts for the local communities.
